The Autopista al Mar 1 (the Project) is one of the Colombian national government’s fourth generation (4G) road concession projects. The Project, with plans to intervene in approximately 76 kilometers of highway, is located in the department of Antioquia, Colombia.
Once completed, the Project will improve mobility and competitiveness between the city of Medellín and the country’s main road concessions, uniting them with the main commercial trade centers like the Caribbean coast (Urabá, Antioquia) and the Pacific coast (Buenaventura).
Current aluminum consumption in Colombia is around 3 kg per person per year, much lower than the world average of 12 kg per person per year, which offers great opportunities for expansion of the Colombian market for aluminum products. Colombia currently imports over 400 million US$ per year in Aluminum.
One of the most beautiful gulfs in the western Caribbean, with calm waters all year round, off the beaten track, without sedimentation, natural draft of at least 10 meters, with a projected expansion of a navigable draft of 15 meters, and only 247 nautical miles from the Panama Canal, with industrial and urban land available for development, with brand new highways that connect the Gulf with most of the country's production areas.
