GALTCO's commitment to sustainability is highlighted by emissions savings equivalent to the CO2e captured by a forest the size of 3.5 million soccer fields – a truly impactful contribution in the millions!
For every ton of Green Aluminum produced using Hydropower, GALTCO prevents the release of 11.3 tons of CO2e compared to aluminum produced with coal-fired electricity.
Opting for hydropower over coal power, GALTCO anticipates an annual avoidance of 6.1 million tons of CO2e emissions. This translates to saving the world from emissions equivalent to those produced by 1.3 million gasoline-powered vehicles annually in Colombia.
Over their initial 30 years of operation, Colombia and GALTCO aim to prevent the release of 194 million tons of CO2e, equivalent to not burning 77.9 billion liters of gasoline – a remarkable stride towards a greener and more sustainable future.

GALTCO is poised to revolutionize the aluminum industry in Colombia, reducing delivery times by approximately two months compared to imports from Asia.
